PAINTED STONES OR ARE THEY?!

If you have ever held any of Sanya Budna's Art stones, well, then you know that they are not your regular painted pebbles or painted stones! The process, by which Sanya Budna reveals the stories they hold- is quite magical.

In her own words:

"Like most People, I first started painting on stones with acrylics. But very soon after, I started to feel that this was not the right way to approach something as ancient and inherently beautiful as this gift of nature was. Although I was initially happy with being able to reproduce the images I saw in the stones, I was not happy with the fact that the paint was "sitting"on the stone rather then becoming one with it. And after all I didn't see a point in re-interpreting the image or energy that was already present within them (no matter how skilful that made me feel at first). With as little disturbance to them as possible, I simply wanted, to unveil their timeless beauty, ancient imprints and cosmic codes, that are here, for all of us to share.

From then on, finding the right way to do this became my quest. And so, my nights melted in to days and my days in to nights, I kept losing and finding my self in them, it felt as if I was diving in and out of a soft wave or a cloud, rather then trying to unlock or break through something as hard, as stones or a rock may appear to be. Their stories, their secrets and fascinating power spurred me on and kept me going, more time I spent with them-more inspired and alive I felt... and then it came to me! Inks, inks, inks-but of course-Eureka!

You see, inks merge with stone beautifully, the stone soaks up the colour and builds it up from within. I now use Indian Inks as they are so potent, beautiful and vibrant. Each time I work with a stone it is in fact a process of going within, I call it an inside-out process. First you have to become very small and unassuming, then wait for the heart of the stone to open, once it's heart opens to you, you gently walk in and you listen.

Everything else happens by it self-it is a Divine Collaboration, full of Love and mutual admiration.

I tell you, in my wildest dreams, I couldn't have found a better, more fulfilling job then this."

Coming back to the original question, we can safely conclude that Art You Can Hold pieces are not just painted stones, they hold secrets & imprints of cosmic dramas, some hold memories from ancient times, some unfold future realms, as well as myriad of cosmic beings and angels alike, while others invoke particular people that might of have lived and died as centuries passed- swept by providence on these shores by our collective consciousness that is the sea and the sky.
