Events Calendar
13 WOMEN showcases talented artists from all backgrounds in a curated exhibition which aims to inspire and engage the public in a very personal way.
Featuring 13 (extra)ordinary biographies from each woman’s unique perspective-a reflection of her life & creative journey so far; the obstacles, the twists and turns, the choices, the triumphs and the pain. We want to celebrate women’s achievements but also to raise awareness of social issues effecting all of us. We aim to create sustainability for each artist beyond the show itself by offering their art for sale at this exhibition, on our website, through workshops and on tour. Each artist has managed to transform her own world through her art.
"If we open one person's eye's to follow their dream, or make a positive change... this show will have been a success."Sarah Gillings, Director & Curator 13 Women

The Venue

13 Women exhibits for two weeks from 1st – 15th March 2012 inclusive at The Jubilee Library, Jubilee Square, in the hub of Brighton’s cultural quarter.
The venue was chosen specifically as it's a truly public and highly visible space, with the ultra-modern and innovative glass-fronted structure, creating a perfect backdrop for the exhibits . The venue of the Jubilee Library is an award-winning eco-friendly landmark building, offering the cities largest gallery space. An outstanding feature of the building is its magnificent glass south-facing frontage, which links the inside and outside spaces, This is the space where all the art will be hanging for the public to see. The décor is modern, colourful and stylish. Interior walls are clad in beechwood, and internal concrete surfaces are painted white to maximise light reflection.
